The Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau

The Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau recently implemented CIS to launch an online survey of CVB membership to help guide their Destination 2010 initiative. This effort will help chart the PWCVB''''s strategic direction for the next five years.

By using CIS to launch a web-based survey to all of its approximately 200 members, the Bureau has been able to gather essential input from stakeholders across multiple industries including accommodations, attractions, convention and event services, dining and nightlife, retail, recreation and leisure, transportation and other market segments. The PWCVB has been able to collect actionable data from its constituents regarding market challenges facing each, developing trends in their business, the value of Bureau initiatives, recommendations for future CVB efforts and other related information.

By utilizing CIS, the PWCVB receives quick and convenient access to their data through a secure website. In addition, the Bureau receives ongoing customer support and unlimited access to powerful reporting tools.

Additional online research applications include lost business surveys to identify opportunities for destination improvement, surveys of past event customers to gauge overall destination performance, and visitor surveys to gauge brand performance and overall destination satisfaction levels. By subscribing to Custom Intercept Solutions, CVB''''s receive unlimited online surveying in addition to mobile PDA surveys; allowing destinations to conduct business and brand management initiatives across all areas of their destination.

San Antonio CVB

The San Antonio CVB recently obtained their 3,000th completed survey. The CVB has been utilizing CIS'''' PDA survey technology since May of last year as part of their strategic planning and branding process at numerous events and locations throughout San Antonio.

One of the more interesting applications that the San Antonio CVB has utilized CIS for is to obtain feedback related to potential new destination logos. The Bureau was able to collect data from approximately 660 respondents over two weekends at various locations throughout the City related to their opinions on color schemes, logo designs and other related topics. By conducting these surveys, the SACVB obtained valuable, real-time input from a large number of respondents to aid in guiding their destination logo and branding initiatives.

CIS has allowed the San Antonio CVB to obtain and strategically analyze real-time data from respondents at a wide range of locations and events to better understand and accommodate visitors. According to David Cooksey, the Bureau''''s Research & Development Manager, "We have been able to review data in real time and the product is very versatile allowing us to make changes to the surveys for different target groups. The whole process of working with Custom Intercept Solutions has been extremely easy and we intend to continue using the PDA''''s to better understand our visitors."

Surveys have been conducted at the City''''s Visitor Information Center, the Gonzalez Convention Center and at area hotels and attractions to obtain data from visitors regarding their perceptions of the destination, travel habits and demographic characteristics among other things. The data has been critical in measuring length of stay, booking in/out of the room block and likelihood to return to the destination.
